La Petite Maison - Getting here

The two most popular methods are to drive or fly/drive.

Driving - we are around an eight hour drive from the Calais/Bologne ferry ports, via the autoroutes. These run all the way to within some 30 minutes of us, exiting the A20 at junction 55. The motorways are very quiet, in comparison with UK motorways anyway, Once off the motorway the roads are rural and you will find little traffic.

Fly/Drive - Flights into the South West of France are changing frequently at present .There are a number of flight operators and regional airports that are trying various combinations to attract travelers to their combined packages for travel from the UK.

The airports at Bergerac, Limoges, Toulouse and Rodez are serviced by one or more operators (including Ryan Air and flybe) from various points in the UK. The situation is regularly changing and each operator and airport has their own information centre, all internet available, publishing their latest offers and prices.

The areas of the Lot and Dordogne are thus currently serviced very well with some attractive ticket prices. In some cases these are in single figure sterling amounts, including airport taxes etc.

Depending on your starting point and destination, travel to this region can be very inexpensive and efficient as the airports are small and it is easy to navigate baggage reclaim and passport control.

Each of the above airports is less than a 120 minute drive from us. Where flights are taken to depends much on the starting point and what ‘deals’ can be had for the time of travel.

If a recommendation was made it would be Bergerac as this is only around 90 minutes driving and the route takes you through the Dordogne valley, past cliff top chateaus and through picturesque villages. On holiday straight out of the airport!
