La Petite Maison - WildLife

In keeping with the rural setting there is an abundance of wildlife in the area, some of which ventures into the grounds and woodland around the cottage.

Birds - a recent guest made a list of some 20 or so birds he spotted whilst lazing at the pool side. These include the usual small - but still interesting of course - regulars as well as some larger and/or less frequently observed. These included Buzzard, Black Kite, Goshawk, Nut Hatch, Tree Creeper, Goldfinch, White Wagtail, Golden Oriole, Hoopoe, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Green Woodpecker.

Deer - the fields and woodland close to the cottage are regular haunts of deer. These have often been spotted by guests taking a post dinner walk at dusk, sometimes just some 50 meters or so from the cottage.

Wild boar - obvious signs of their presence are areas of turf removed from the field and walk ways in the woods. There have been some sightings, the boar running off, away from the 'intruders' as fast as it can go. Noisy in the process and can cause quite a 'start'!

Lizards - these friendly critters are full of character and almost an obligatory requirement for any holiday in the sun! They sun bathe more than the average UK holidaymaker and are easily observed at close quarters, paying little attention to the human invaders of their patch.
